Week 4 - Sound track & Wishlist Wednesday

I want this room...
with these lights...

And I want to make this for Aaron

I'm not too happy with my soundtrack for this week.  I haven't heard any new songs in the past week, and my main reason to do this is to share the new stuff that I discover.  Either way, I hope you enjoy it.

Monday Randomness

Happy Monday to all of you.

I had a pretty good weekend.  Not too much creativity.  I did try to paint my nails like this...
But it was an epic fail!  I even tried to take a picture of the bad job but my it made my camera phone throw up and come up with this...
haha, see... it just wasn't working out for me.

So I removed the bad nail job and painted them pink.  Still.. not picture because my phone just wasn't cooperating.

I'm in no way rushing Christmas here, but I really can't wait until December so I can do this...

Now, my next paper crafting attempt will look something like this but with a Thanksgiving theme.

So, forgive the randomness on this wonderful Monday morning.  I'm a bit scatter brained with lots of ideas but nothing really of my own to share with you.  All of the above pictures (except my cell phone fail) and ideas I found on Pinterest.

Unique ideas take time

For the longest time I have been searching for a brilliant unique idea of my own.
Something that had to do with paper of course.  Paper is my favorite thing to craft with.
For years I've been following crafty blogs and love to copy tutorials to create certain things and I've even taken those tutorials and added my own spin to things but have NEVER been able to come up with a design that was only inspired by others, but still my own design.

I've been blogging a bit lately about journaling and how much I've grown to love it.

Well, I gained some inspiration from the following journals and blogs.

NOW!
I present my creation!
Can you tell I'm super excited about it?

I will be writing in this through out the month of November and plan on posting an after picture of each page once I have it all filled up.  I was pleasantly surprised with out it turned out.

A sneak peak at the inside.

Aging paper

I love the look and texture of aged paper, but I can't get my hands on it often.
With my new adventures in "creative" journaling I decided to try to age some paper on my own.

It's pretty simple.
Brew some tea.  I just used what I had on hand which was some Tetley I think.

Spread your paper out on a cookie sheet (notice how "used" this poor pan is).
I didn't get a picture of the next step but I'll try to explain.
I spooned about 2 tsps of tea onto each sheet and spread it around so that all of the paper was coated with the tea.
I wasn't happy with the results so I tore open my tea back after I drained it and took a pinch of the grains and rubbed them into the paper focusing on the edges.

Turn the oven on a 200 and bake your paper.
I didn't time it, I just checked it after a few minutes.
When the paper is completely dry it's done.

Again, no pictures of this step but a burned the edges of my pages.  Not much, just enough to darken the edges and maybe round the corners a bit.

The finished result.

What do you think?

Homemade Frothy Hot Chocolate

Last night was a very relaxing night.
Spent some quality time with family and had some of my grandmothers chilli!
It was a perfect night for it.
Rainy & Cold
Got home and watched Finding Nemo with my little man, then bath and bedtime for him.

Then, I decided to try my hand at making some homemade hot chocolate.
My secret ingredient...
Chocolate marshmallows.

Recipe makes 2 cups.

2 cups milk
2 tsps hershey's cocoa
4 tsps white sugar
a handful of chocolate marshmallows

Heat milk on medium heat and add marshmallows.  Stir and they will start to melt.  Once the milk is hot add the other 2 ingredients and stir until marshmallows are completely melted.

Serve in your favorite coffee mug and ENJOY!

Kinda hard to see the frothy goodness, but it is!
