Fun crafts for the 4th

Sorry I've missed you the past 4 days.  It's been HOT and I've been busy.  Which means that in my downtime when I had a chance to blog I was trying to get some rest.

Here's some of the things I've been up to over the weekend.

I made COLORED sugar!  I know, it's the little things that make me happy, right?
It's a new thing I discovered.  Just put some sugar in a ziplock bag, add a few drops of food coloring, shake and mix together and add color until you get your desired color.  Then pour out onto a surface to dry for a few minutes (it doesn't take long) then sprinkle onto cupcakes, cakes, or cookies!  Love how mine turned out.
I iced the cupcakes with a white icing and dipped them into the colored sugar.  Remember my Father's Day cupcake fail?  Well, I didn't want pink icing, I wanted red, so it was MUCH easier to make sugar red than it would be to make icing red.  And those are black berry gummy candies that I found at Walmart.  Perfect addition, I think.
Last but not least, I hosted another sucessful crafty gathering at church Sunday.  We made these fun 4th of July wreaths with strips of fabric tied around a Dollar Tree wreath.  After I made this one I had the idea to add some denim fabric as well.  No pictures of that yet, but soon.  Added some flowers and flags.  The other ladies at the gathering had some great looking wreaths.  I even wanted to redo mine after seeing their techniques.
