Weekend Plans 3/27 - 3/28

Saturday is going to be a fun filled day with my mother and grandmother.  3 generations of women shopping and crafting.

Let me tell you, I come from a not so crafty family.

My mother is crafty in her own untraditional way.  If she has a need she will fill in a make shift way.  One time her water wasn't working and it was raining outside.  She had one of those picnic tents up in her back yard and it was older and the ran had gathered in the "roof" of it and it was going to tear it up if she didn't do something.  So she grabbed a knife and a 10 gallon bucket.  She poked a hole in the "roof" and placed the bucket under the hole to catch the water.  TaDa, she "fixed" her tent and had water to flush the toilet with.  I love my mother and I cherish the relationship I have with her.  She's taught me so much!

My grandmother is the frugal shopper that I wish I was.  She's a bargain hunter, and when she finds a bargain, she'll talk the person into making it an even better bargain.  I don't know how she does it.  She's the most beautiful woman I've ever know, inside and out.  I guess it's her grace and charm that woos the sellers into giving her what she wants... haha.

So, I guess I can't say they aren't crafty, they just aren't your typical crafty people.  Their skills are just very unique.

Anyway, I found this AWESOME tutorial on how to make baby pants which I can't seem to find the blog that I found the tutorial.  I know I commented on her blog, and she commented back to me... or email... or something and I can't find a trace of it.  I thought I followed the blog but can't seem to find it in my list.  If that was you, please, leave me a comment so I can give you credit for this project and to make sure I did follow your blog because I loved it.  I went through my drawers last night and found a pair of jeans (that have been ripped in multiple places), some t-shirts, and some old yoga pants I can't wear anymore.  These will be turned into Aaron's pants!  I can't wait.  I also found a cute tank top that will be turned into a cute little girls skirt for a dear friend's daughter.  We'll see how that turns out.

We'll be getting some supplies to make all 4 boys (my nephews, my cousin, and my son) Easter shirts.  I'm still indecisive on a design I want to do, but I'll be doing some searching very soon for ideas.

We will also be getting all the makings for the Easter Egg hunt.  I want to have some golden eggs as prize eggs, stuff to decorate eggs, and stuff for their Easter baskets.

Oh, I can't wait.

I will also be giving my Grandmother her Easter gifts.  The Easter Wreath.
So, what's your plans for the weekend?

Happy Spring!

Oh how I wish I had a beautifully, bright, colored craft to share with you on this glorious spring day.  Sadly, I do not.  I have been working on an Easter wreath.  I originally wanted to do one of these...
This wreath is featured at Tatertots and Jello.

I attempted this project with the instructions (follow the link above for instructions) and I failed.  It could've been my patience or experience with Mod Podge... I lacked both of those when I attempted the project.  So, I decided to make some "tweed" wrapped eggs.  I say "tweed" because it's the stuff I bought at the Dollar Tree that looks like tweed but is much more "hairy".  Anyway, it's going good but slow and I don't think this project will be done by this weekend.  Maybe next.  I have plans of combining a few different things that I found for making spring time wreaths.  I will be combining materials from these 3 wreaths.

Spring Has Sprung - Not so fast...

We had 2 gorgeous days of sunshine and warm weather... as of right now those days are out of site.  We've had rain and colder weather since then and I'm a little bit  very disappointed!  I'm ready for all that spring brings!

I don't have a new project to show off because this week has been pretty busy and a bit stressful.  I love my job most days but there are some days I begin to wonder if it's really worth it.  I should be thankful to have a job.  Hubby and I discussed that last night... about being thankful for more than I am and I started to tear up a bit because I felt so ashamed for not being thankful for more.  I'm in one of those moods I guess and I've got to snap out of it.  Do you ever get in those moods?

I'm hoping to work on and possibly complete 2 projects by this weekend.  We'll see how it goes because I'm needing some supplies and I'm not sure if I'll be able to get to the craft supplies store to get it.

Materials needed:
Mod Podge
Scrapbook paper

As you can see there's not much I need.  I have a ton of glue on hand but I don't think it will serve the purpose properly like Mod Podge would (covering plastic easter eggs with paper).  If you have an alternative to Mod Podge please, leave a comment, I'd love to hear it.

I'm also working on a couple of new items for my shop that I'm excited about.  I need to also take some actual pictures of the products that I have already listed that just have screen shot images.

Busy weekend, again!  What's your plans?

Weekend Plans 3/12/10 - 3/14/10

I was really hoping for a warm & sunny weekend but it doesn't look like mother nature is going to allow that.  It will be raining all day today and most of the day tomorrow.  Sunday will be pretty though, so that's good.  I have been planning to get 2 free tickets to The World of Coke for David and I to go and check out.  We've never been, but have talked about going quite often.  I got the tickets after entering lots of codes in on MyCokeRewards.com.  I don't drink a lot of coke, but my co-workers do and they don't use the points.  I also won a lot of codes on Listia.

Tonight we'll be taking Aaron to my mother's house to spend the evening.  She will be taking him to visit my grandparents as well since they haven't seen him very much lately.  He'll have lots of fun there.

Saturday after we get done enjoying our rainy day together at the World of Coke we'll probably grab a bite to eat somewhere that we've never been.  We'll get Aaron back that evening.

Sunday is church and afterwards we'll probably head over to David's mom and dad's to visit with them and let them have some time with Aaron.

At some point in between these plans I'd like to get a couple of creative things started (and possibly finished).  I still have my 1st Dollar Store Craft that needs to be completed.  I also wanted to make a St. Patty's Day shirt for a friend's daughter but I don't have the materials for it.  I really want to get this done by Sunday so I can give it to her.  I may go to Walmart tonight to get what I need... if they have it.  If they don't, I may not be successful with this project or I'll have to change my idea for the project.  I also want to make an Easter wreath with lots of cute plastic eggs.  I also have a box that I am doing the finishing touches on the design that I want to get listed in MY SHOP.

What are your plans this weekend?

Whatever they are I hope you have a happy one!

Planning Mode

I've got a lot of plans for this little SHOP of mine. I'm really excited about it.

Some things I want to make:
  • Gift boxes for Easter
  • Special Mommy Coupons as gifts for Mother's Day
  • I also want to offer different styles of gift boxes for other Etsy sellers that actually have a product to send out.
I'll be working on some unique gift box templates soon.
